In the early 2010s, cinema was undergoing its biggest change in nearly a century: the industry-wide switch from film to digital. Australian projectionist Rob Murphy knew he had to document this historic transition.

What followed is the documentary Splice Here: A Projected Odyssey, which takes us from the heyday of Cinemascope in the fifties to the present day of film archives, underground collectors, backyard Cinerama setups, and the race to install 70mm at the Sun Theatre in Melbourne, Australia for the opening of The Hateful Eight in 2015.

Featuring interviews with leading figures from the world of film, including special effects legend Douglas Trumbull, film critic Leonard Maltin and director Quentin Tarantino, Splice Here: A Projected Odyssey celebrates the history of analogue film and explores the place it has as an artform alongside digital technology.

We are delighted to be hosting the Scottish premiere of Splice Here: A Projected Odyssey, preceded by a recorded introduction from director Rob Murphy.
