Edit almost complete
Howdy all
Well, as this peculiar year draws to an end editing for Splice Here: A Projected Odyssey is almost done. Rough cut #5 is really flowing and I’m now working through notes, comments and editorial ideas learnt from a small test screening. Work has begun on tracking down and pricing archival and music and as these arrive the edit will undoubtedly need a little further ‘tweaking’, according to what we can afford. Version 6 will be what’s called ‘picture lock off’ (or it used to be in the days of cutting work print) where no further editing can take place so as to allow the sound and grading departments to start work. As of rough #5 the film is 2 hours and 30 mins, which is still a bit too long. Two hours would be great but I’m not sure that’s possible without nobbling emotional impact. We’ll see.
Recently we resumed shooting our remaining pic ups, which wasn’t possible during lockdown. Second unit cinematographer Con Filippidis joined me again filling in for Director of Photography, Joanne Donahoe who is busy on a new series for the ABC until December.
A difficult space to work in which will cut with footage we shot more than four years ago. Matching my beard length wasn’t easy; not to mention the extra mileage on my face.
